Medical and Surgical Part 13: Violent patient

Managing a violent patient should never be the patient but rather the safety of health care provider. In the emergency nursing department, violent patient mild to severe can be seen and emergency nurses do experience some form of abuse be it physical or verbal. Learning to manage such patients is challenging. The lecture will cover the approach, safety considerations, etiologies behind violent patients and various techniques in containing the violent patient in emergency department setting.
